September 4, 2024. The Composite Development Centre of Quebec (CDCQ) provides technical assistance in applied research to companies in the composites industry and was one of Addcomp’s firstAFP cell installations in North America.
CDCQ project manager, Yves Mathieu, will discuss a project where it worked with 3 companies to evaluate the capacity of this AFP robotic cell to manufacture high-end bike components made using carbon fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composites, including:
1- Comparing the properties and price of available industrial CF/thermoplastic matrix tapes to the baseline carbon fiber epoxy material used in the bike industry.
2- Optimizing a bicycle seat post component using FEA to define/refine the ply-book and robotic cell programming.
3- Manufacture of multiple demonstrators to improve the process until the part quality and performance matched the FEA and passed the qualification protocols.
Key process steps and parameters will be discussed and explained.
Join Addcomp and CDCQ for this presentation on Wednesday, September 11 – 2:30-3:25pm
